Here are a few of our biggest tips, most used websites and super helpful tricks that will get you through any trip!

Packing List

It never fails, I often forget something when we are traveling and I have to go without, or go to the nearest “Wally World” to get it. Hopefully, this will help you not to be forgetful, like me!

Passport Information

Having a passport opens up so many possibilities for you, when it comes to traveling. Its not hard to apply, but does take some time, and money. At the site below, you can print off the application form. You will need to find a drop off location - as this has to be done in person (it can’t be scanned or emailed.) Most times, that’s at your Post office or County Court House. You will also need a photo done. This isn’t just any photo, but an actual photo done specifically for a passport. I have found that Walgreens is the best and cheapest place to get this done. ($7 and one hour processing!) When you complete the form and take it to the drop off location, they will go over the information again with you, to verify. From there, you will pay the application and passport fee, which can be anywhere from $150 to $300, depending on your state and its requirements. If you’re over 18, this passport is good for 10 years and renewals aren’t as expensive! Good News!

Again, A passport is a much used and a much needed tool, when doing any traveling and is actually most accurate when verifying you!

Luggage and Bags

Luggage can be a tricky thing to navigate when traveling. What do you take, what do you leave, and what should it weigh? As a general rule of thumb, any checked baggage 50 lbs or lighter, will just cost regular baggage fees (Free on Southwest). Anything over 50 lbs will be charged extra or a 2nd bag fee. A carry-on has to be a very specific size (usually depending on airline specifics) and NO liquids over 3 oz, can be in your carry on. If you have a drink you want to take, it must be purchased or filled AFTER you go through security. The link below is the Department of Security regulations for luggage and what can and cannot be included and how.

Weather

Before we go anywhere, I always check the weather where I’m headed. Not only does it help us know how to pack - but it also helps us plan a bit for what things we need to look at doing while there. Inside vs. outdoor activities. Here is a site that I use to check the weather in my future destinations!

Flight Information and Status

Sometimes I like to watch particular flight patterns, to make sure all of the flights are running, in the areas I’m going. This site will let you see all of the flights happening, at any given time. This is also a great site to give your family members who want to keep track of your flights and where you are in your travels.

Currency Conversion

Traveling internationally always requires US dollars to be converted to the countries currency. This site will help you know how much cash (US dollars) you will need to take, to convert when you arrive.
